What is the secret of a successful book? In reality, it doesn’t exist only one secret to create or write a successful book, but many. In this article, though, we would speak about the most important, that is the title. It is right like this: the first secret to a successful book lies in the title. Through very few words, the title reveals and summarizes the main topic of the book, by letting to understand if we’ll read a fiction or an essays book.

By this sentence, you may understand like the book title is very important to attract your potential and possible readers. Today, because of the high number of new authors and dreamers who would love to become famous writers and novelists, the issue of title is still more important. The type of title, its initial topic, is fundamental to mark the success or failure of a book.

The title must be able to induce readers to buy the book and to love it forever. In this case, we can say that the title is the passport for the fortune of your book. To get an immediate book success, don’t choose a too long title, but neither of medium length. It is better to choose a concise and short title, still more useful if you use only two or one word. In recent years, the best books and the most famous best sellers have had a short title and much easier to remember.

We can quote, for example, The Thirteen, by Susie Moloney. Around we may find other famous books with a short title, such as The Road, by Cormack McCarty and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. More often, a short titled book is more likely to be noted by readers and even by movie productions.

We can’t help to remember the most famous movies were born by a book with a short title. It is useful to quote Dracula, by Bram Stocker or the more recent Shining, one of the first successes by Stephen King, or still, Twilight, the famous vampire series created by Stephenie Meyer, who has recently appreciated the success of Wings, the fantasy best seller with a short title written by Aprilynne Pike.

Short titles don’t serve only for fantasy and horror books, but also for essays, medical, children and science books. In these fields, however, it could be useful to add two words. A long title is not forbidden in a book, but this is a privilege that only the famous author has. When a novelist gets fame and success, his books are renowned and appreciated not only for the title, but also thanks to author’s name, that represents the real brand of that specific book.
