Review of Can you and your family survive the end of the world? by Terry D. Clark

canyouanyourfamilysurvivetheendoftheworldcoverI must admit when I read this book I had low expectations. Maybe because it was the shortest book I ever reviewed since I have opened this website of book reviews or because this is a nonfiction book about a topic we always perceive fairly distant from us. I don’t know explain the reason about my low interest for this work. But, then, when I started browsing and reading its pages, I abruptly changed my mind. Why has this happened? Because I think I have read the best non-fiction book about how to survive the end of the world.

Indeed, I am reviewing the book titled Can you and your family survive the end of the world? The author of this work is Terry D. Clark, a writer specialized in self-improvement.  I also admired the strategy to start the book, or rather, the title, with a question, because that is the question everyone should ask to himself every day. Terry has just tried to reply to this question, by focusing his writing about the main surviving techniques we should perform when an end of the world scenario should occur. It does not matter where it occurs, it matters you face this scenario without panic, stress and scary get the best of you. The end of the world may occur in many ways, for an atomic war, for a natural catastrophe.

Nowadays, we often hear about awful and disruptive hurricanes and tornadoes or about the risk of a chemical war or about weather changes or earthquakes capable to destroy most of the continents. Hence, it is always useful you wonder what to do to survive a similar scenario and to save yourself and your family. First of all, you should prepare yourself about this, listening to the latest news from radio, tv and newspapers.

Sometimes, bad news can be annoying, but it is always better to be ready when the end of the world should happen. It’s better you keep yourself posted with reliable news and not only with the stuff every day arrives from the social networks. On these platforms, many news are often only bullshit. By the way, in case of the end of the world, web, social networks and smartphones will be cut off. Ensure you have a radio with you, especially a model that works through the battery.

These are the first items you must carry along with you in case of the end of the world. Other items are pillow, blankets, can foods and medicines. Another useful tip the author provides in the book is to train your body and your mind to handle the stress caused by a possible scenario of the end of the world. With a very persuasive writing, the author leads us toward a path of self mindfulness about a potential, awful and apocalyptic scenario. The sound of the words is soft, smooth and very persuasive.

Persuasive because based on the truth. Today we have cash money and credit card to shop what we need, but tomorrow we could lose everything. To face the end of the world, you must being ready to do anything, such as doing your needs in a bucket, pour urines and feces in a dig to cover with the ground in order to prevent hygienic troubles, hunt animals, manage new alliances, find new shelters for you and your family and even kill in self – defense.

In spite of its shortness, this book is a precious tutorial that strangely I reviewed while an earthquake was hitting Sicily this afternoon. This moment, I am scared and frightened, the walls of my home have just stopped trembling and also for this I suggest that you read this book that, in a scenario of the end of the world, can really help you and your family to be saved by a sudden destruction.
