Junkyard Lucy by Tony Nesca added to an Italian library

Today, I am glad to announce again I added a new book in English to an Italian library. This time, the book is Junkyard Lucy, by Canadian/Italian writer/poet Tony Nesca. Tony and his wife, Nicole I. Nesca, run their own independent publishing company called Screamin’ Skull Press – Inside this company, Tony and Nicole Nesca publish only their own books, a kind of literature they define as “renegade, unconventional and rebellious”, literary terms also associated with a tradition called “underground literature”. Junkyard Lucy is a collection of short stories, Tony’s sixteenth book. Stylistically alternating between Nesca’s unique free-flow style, full of that incredible, rhythmic prose that only he can do, and street-tough, short declarative sentences, the writing shows incredible range. The themes are varied and widespread – from love, sex, music, death, old age, rebellious youth and everything in-between, Junkyard Lucy is a subversive celebration of being alive, a romantic, sexually charged discourse on life, unfettered and free. Everything unravels in ‘Junkyard Lucy’, Nesca’s sixteenth published book. This isn’t just a book of short stories about life, but a searing and intense exploration of humanity that truly knows no rules.Nesca is bucking all trends with gusto – waging war on…

Kamikaze White Noise by Nicole Nesca added to an Italian library

Dear readers, my service to add books in English to an Italian library goes on. I have added another book to the library of my country, in Sicily. The book is titled Kamikaze White Noise by Canadian/American writer/poet, (with Italian family roots in Naples),Nicole I. Nesca. Nicole and her husband, Tony Nesca, run their own independent publishing company called Screamin’ Skull Press – Inside this company, Tony and Nicole Nesca publish only their own books, a kind of literature they define as “renegade, unconventional and rebellious”, literary terms also associated with a tradition called “underground literature”. Nicole’s Kamikaze White Noise fits these terms and ideas perfectly – it is a collection of three books by Nicole I. Nesca, The Sexual Repression Collection, Kink and Canned. Though not a formal trilogy, the books were written as companion pieces and follow the themes of sexual freedom, emotional frankness and street-carnival logic, all written with Nicole Nesca’s usual free-flowing sardonic wit. Kamikaze White Noise is prose and poetry that assaults the senses, liberates the mind and celebrates life on the edge like a perfect quarter-mile drag race. This isn’t just a book of prose and poetry but a beautiful streetwise and lyrical telling…

I added the print copy of the book and the local librarians were very happy to receive a new book translated into Italian. I also added books in English to help readers improve their English skills, but obviously, readers also love books in their native language. The librarians also appreciated the book cover, above all one of the guys, who said: “Wow, what a wonderful book cover, the woman depicted in this book is really beautiful!” I explained them that the cover represents the main character of the book, namely Arria, the legendary daughter of Spartacus, a former slave imprisoned by the Romans and forced to fight as a gladiator. Spartacus is the emblem of a freedom dream, which, unfortunately, ended…

Dear readers, today I am glad to announce that last Monday I added another book in English to an Italian library. As usual, I took my car and brought the book to the library. This time I added the children’s book titled The Imaginary Wizard and written by American author Phillip Vaira. When I handed the book to the librarians, they were very happy to have also a book for children in English among their bookshelves. I must admit this is the first children’s book in English added to the Municipal Library of Grammichele, my country in Sicily. When I told author about the name of this library, he was delighted to know that the library is Sicilian, as the author’s great grandmother was indeed Sicilian. On my side, moreover, I have really been very thrilled for adding The Imaginary Wizard to the Italian, or rather, Sicilian library. The book is suitable for 9 – 12 years children and tells about the story of Alex, an eleven year old child who spends his days to clean chimneys in his village. He lives along with his grandfather because her father abandoned him for seeking a better future for his family. Alex’s…

Safe & Sound by T.S. Krupa in an Italian library

Dear readers, my service to add books in English to an Italian library goes on. This morning (the Italian time),  I have added another book to the library of my country, in Sicily. The book is titled Safe & Sound by American-Polish novelist T.S. Krupa. I didn’t have the pleasure to review this book, yet, but when the paper version has arrived in Italy I decided to read and review it, in order to write my opinion in this press release.   Safe & Sound is a kind of book that readers can read in one breath because is the typical story that catches you since the first moment you browse the book pages. The plot is compelling, unforgettable and tells about the topic of grief and loss and how to heal from a severe grief when especially you lost your ones or one of them. The main character of the book is Jill, a garden teacher who married her soul mate Jay, a successful lawyer. When a day Jay abruptly dies in a car accident, Jill’s life falls apart and changes forever. But the journey of Jill into the dark depths of this grief causes awful nightmares to her….

Dear readers, this morning I took my car and delivered another book in English in the municipal library of my country in Sicily, Italy. The book I added to the library is Cat Lady by Mary M. Schmidt.  I have already reviewed the book in English and Italian. As soon as I arrived in the library, I took some photos and introduced the book and its author to the Italian librarians who were very happy to add it to the library. Cat Lady is a sweet and tender story created like a poetry, indeed, that is a poetry book. Writing style and plot are very original and tell about an old woman called Maria who spends her entire life to feed and care the cat colonies that every day wander around the most important monument in Rome: The Colosseum. Tourists mock this old woman who in reality hides a painful secret shared only with her loved cats. These ones, in turn, seem to be outfitted with paranormal powers and are able to talk to Maria in order to discover his burning secret which is also a promise the woman made to a Roman bishop many years ago. All this has…
