Review of Esme’s Wish by Elizabeth Foster
Book reviews , Children's books / January 8, 2018

This is not the usual magic tale for teens, but a very interesting novel, which deepens the affective relationships between parents and their children. Through a fantasy story, the novel pushes readers to wonder what they would do if their mother had suddenly disappeared during a sea trip. Why yes, this is the plot of a novel focused on the disappearing of a mother, Ariane, and the troubles of her little daughter Esme. In the book, Esme is a fifteen year old girl who is witnessing the new wedding between her father Aaron and her new stepmother Penelope. Unfortunately, Esme has been unable to overcome her mother’s disappearing, maybe drowned at sea seven years ago. That is why the girl begins to have strange dreams and nightmares . I enjoyed the description of these dreams very much, because they proved the great talent of this Australian author. Only one like Elizabeth Foster could write wonderful descriptions about other and strange underwater worlds, the same world where Esme lands as he searches for the truth about the disappearing of her loved mother. One day, while Esme is swimming in the same fabulous waters where in the past she went along with…

Review of Sir Princess Petra’s Mission by Diane Mae Robinson
Book reviews , Children's books / January 27, 2016

This is a tale, or rather, a fairy tale, about courage, dignity, honesty and self-esteem. This is also a story for children and parents who want to learn how better to grow up their children. I am discussing about Sir Princess Petra’s Mission , the third book by awarded Canadian author Diane Mae Robinson. This work is included in the series titled The Pen Pieyu Adventures. The plot of this new story keeps the same high  levels of the previous ones, even though here it is enriched with quirky and amazing twists that make the fairy tale much more gripping and fun. The background is very similar because the main character of the tale is always little princess Petra, who, unlike what her father wants, desires to become a brave royal knight instead of a girl princess. In order to deter his daughter to undertake the career as a knight of the Kingdom of Pen Pieyu, the king writes silly rules on the royal book that an aspiring knight must perform to gain just the title of royal knight. This time, the rule is really silly because she, alone, should capture a car-panther in the unventured land of the Boogy…

Book reviews , Children's books / February 20, 2015

This time we are very glad to speak about a children’s book. This work is suitable for children aged 7-12 years. That is a fairy tale enriched with magical words. Its title is  Sir Princess Petra’s Talent and its author is Diane Mae Robinson, an established and rewarded Canadian writer of Children’s books and a writing instructor at the Creative Writing Institute.   The book we are reviewing is the second episode of The Pen Pieyu Adventures, a series set in the reign inhabited by the little, brave Princess Petra, her parents, namely the king and his queen and a royal council that supervises Petra’s friends while they try to follow the rules established by the royal book to became royal knights. The book opens with the synopsis of the first episode, where the little, nine years Petra gets the title of royal knight to have hushed the howling dragon Snarls. The latter becomes a friend of Petra, but in the book two, the parents of Petra expect their beloved princess to behave as a true Princess and not only as a royal knight. The king, hence, orders Petra to attend the Talent School to gain a talent certificate. If…

Our sons are like a white paper, where a parent can write anything: good or evil. A bad example can product a bad person. That is the rule in the world. Many parents, perhaps for job tasks, cannot find the time to educate their children. Can a book to help them to educate their sons better ? Yes, It can, but without to consider that like a parents substitute. A book can’t ever take the place of a mother or a father. Parents can to use, instead, a good educative book for helping a child to understand the values of life, such as ethic principles, moral concepts and positive behaviours toward other people. Is it possible to find a good educative book for children? Publishers today offer different solutions such as e-books, school books, fairies books and even ethics books. Educational principles can be transmitted by reading fairies book, but also by ethics books. If to find fairies books for children is very easy, to find ethics book is more hard. These are very rare and in limited copies. But, especially in this our time made of so many ugliness is very important to help our kids to learn the…
