What Hell is Not is the English translation from Ciò che Inferno non è. It has been released in 2019 and translated by Jeremy Parzen. That is one the most poignant masterpieces of Italian literature because is dedicated to a courageous man who fought against the Mafia: Father Pino Puglisi. This man is one of the characters of the novel. He was a priest who is still remembered as the man who fought the Mafia with a smile. In the book, he is the teacher of Federico, a teen boy who lives in a violent district in Palermo: Brancaccio. This place is frail like its inhabitants and tainted by the local mafia bosses. What Hell is Not is a poetical tale of beauty and violence about the true story of a priest killed in 1993 by the mafia. His only fault was the one to saving many young Sicilians by the awful influence of local mobsters. Buy this novel on Amazon.

That is a story of family relationships and about the true abandonment of a woman, who, abruptly, leaves her family. In Italian, the novel is really poignant and heartbreaking, filled with painful remembrances and the sad passage of time, where everything appears really as it is: transient and never durable. I hope the English edition will have the same charm. To discover more about the book, you have to buy and read it.
