Is there a complete list of the 10 best books to learn Spanish quickly and as a real Spanish mother tongue? I think that to learn a new language, the best book is only the one which fits your expectations and needs. Before asking what are the best books to learn Spanish, you should wonder why you want to learn this wonderful language? Is it for a job, for love, to retrace your roots? In any case, learning languages is a wonderful experience to open our mind and gain knowledge. After learning English, I would also like to learn Spanish, because in my view, this is one among the most beautiful and charming languages of the world.
Spanish is included in the Latin languages and it is the second most spoken language in the world, after English. Originally spoken in Spain, the language is now spoken in the whole South America, in addition to Mexico. There is also Portuguese, spoken in Portugal, but Spanish is the real mother of all Latin languages. I would like to know other words in Spanish, in addition to the usual “Besame mucho” ( kiss me very much) or muchacha (a girl), but currently, I remember only querida ( that means dear). I remember this word because a couple of years ago I interviewed a famous Spanish writer and he gave me a complete interview in Spanish and English.
Estimado and querida are the words I exchanged with this author, both of them mean dear, but querida is used for women, while estimado serves for men. This is not enough to learn a real Spanish language. You need to read a good course to master the language properly. If you live in the US, it can be hard to learn Spanish easily, because the roots of Spanish and English are fully different one from the other. Maybe Italian and Spanish are very similar for the position of adjectives and adverbs, but English is a different matter. Anyway, good books about Spanish grammar, sentences and conversation can be a good beginning to better understand and learn this language. However, amid the chaos of the Web, it is very hard to spot good learning books. That is why I selected and listed the 10 best books to learn Spanish. Browsing this list, you’ll find only books which really meet your needs.
Currently, the best book to learn Spanish is Madrigal’s Magic Key to Spanish: A Creative and Proven Approach, by Margarita Madrigal, as an author, and Andy Warhol as an illustrator. This book focuses on learning Spanish quickly, through illustrations added to words and sentences in Spanish. This method eliminates the rules of memorization to foster visualization.
The second book is Easy Spanish Phrase Book NEW EDITION: Over 700 Phrases for Everyday Use (Dover Language Guides Spanish), by Pablo Garcia Loaez, a useful book for tourists who need to understand the most common sentences in Spanish during their vacation.
A real best-seller is Accelerated Spanish: Learn fluent Spanish with a proven accelerated learning system. Volume 1, by Timothy Moser, a book which promises to learn Spanish through a revolutionary method. The author says that the book teaches you to think as a real Spanish and learn the 50% of Spanish words and sentences, at least, in the first volume.
I also advise you read Easy Spanish Step-By-Step by Barbara Bergstein, a strong grammar book to really learn Spanish from the basis of every language.
With a five star rating on Amazon, another learning book is: Understanding Spanish Conversation: Learn the Words, Phrases and Grammar Spanish Speakers Use Everyday and Quickly Become One Yourself! by Joe Kozlowski. With only 98 pages, this book argues that you can learn Spanish as a real Spanish mother tongue.

I am sorry to say that this list is outdated. Madrigal Magic Key is a book from 40 years ago… Both the author and the illustrator are both dead already. I checked the rankings in Goodreads, Librarything, Listchallenges, etc. and the first book in all of them is called: A Good Spanish Book, by some PhD from Spain itself. If you want to tell us that a book from decades ago by a non-PhD is better than a modern one written by a Spanish professor that appears first in all the rankings, we are gonna take everything on this site with a pinch of salt.
Hi Lesley, thank you so much for your helpful insight. Reader comments are always welcome. Yes, often, books which rank online are not necessarily the best ones, but it is important to never forget evergreen works that contributed to establish a language over decades. Feel free to post another comment with your favourite and modern book to learn Spanish. This informazion will be helpful for those who want to learn this beautiful language.
